Not walking yet

Mara is 14 months, 1 week, and 3 days old. Not that I am counting.

She has hit every milestone in stride, early or right on target. She was always alert, looks right in your eyes like she knows all your stories, and laughs heartily. She crawled right on time and is Speedy Gonzales on four legs. She can crawl both up and down stairs. What she does not do is walk.

She travels along the train table. She pulls herself up. She walks with her hands death gripping yours (we do this for 10 minutes a night). She also turns her right foot in. Not 100% of the time but most of the time.

Wednesday we have an appointment with a Pediatric Orthopedist at Vandy. We are not overly concerned, hopefully just a simple brace will get her walking in no time.

Wish us luck. Either for the appointment or for after the walking begins!

Good luck!! Daryoosh didn’t start walking until a couple of weeks shy of his 15th month. (He decided to start walking consistently while I was away at the Blissdom conference, of course). And since I’m the only one who ever takes pictures (not the mention the fact that I probably took with me almost every camera we own to capture Harry Connick, jr), we didn’t catch the first few walks on film.

Do they really see kids that young already? Wow. I guess turning the right foot in tipped you off on the need for that. Maybe I should have been more concerned??

Wishing you luck on the appointment and especially after the walking begins!!
