So the question of the day is how long does it take parents with 6, 8, 10….18 kids to go to the doctor?

I scheduled Thane’s 2 year and Mara’s 6 month doctor visits for the same time. Kill two birds with one stone, if you will. I expected to be gone about 2 hours. I told school we would be back. Ha!

Problem is we have a doctor who loves to know every detail of what is going on, which is great, but I felt guilty when he left the room…an hour after he came in! (Really? Wow!)

Thane and Mara both got a clean bill of health. Here are there stats:

Mara:
Weight 16 lbs 10 oz 60th percentile
Height 26 1/2 inches 75th percentile
Head 41.9 cm 35th percentile

Thane:
Weight 31 lbs 80th percentile
Height 37 1/4 inches 98th percentile
Head 49 cm 60th percentile

He recommended we hold off on the potty training for a little. He said that Thane’s language skills were in the higher range for his age group. He also said the defiance were part of the age. The putting everything in the mouth needs to stop and Dr. Yoneyama got a first hand view of that one on several occasions.

Mara is still on the heartburn medicine, but it does not seem to be affecting her.

Thane got 3 shots (yikes!) and Mara got one.

Thane did a great job in the office. He played with the toys while I talked. When he was examined, he was still and patient. He loved the birds chirping in his ear during the ear exam. He wanted to watch while Mara was being examined (I held him in my arms). After Yoneyama left and the nurse was getting the shots ready, he did walk though the halls saying…”Ready to Go?” The nurses station thought that was a riot and told Nurse Michelle to hurry up!
