The catch-all (maybe!) post before I go to the hospital
Somehow between Thanksgiving, taking care of a toddler, getting ready for the new arrival, and just feeling generally crappy, I have had no time to post, even though I have not worked in almost 2 weeks. I woke up the other morning and said “Thank God I am not working right now, I don’t think I could get through the day” but I don’t know if maybe work was making me forget about all the unfortableness or what. Right now, I wake up, get Jay and Thane ready, get showered and dressed, turn on the Today show, fall asleep on the couch to the Today show, wake up, run errands, come back, take a nap because the errands were exhausting, and wake up in time to make dinner. Last night, I had the pleasure of making dinner, putting the finished, hot, flavorful, aromatic chicken breasts on the stove top and go upstairs only to hear the pitter patter of dog feet trod up and eat the said chicken breasts. Lovely.
So….back to catching up…
Thane visited Santa the weekend before Thanksgiving. Same Santa as last year. We made a little walk-by the mall Santa the night before and he did not seem to be bothered so we thought we were home free. We get to Tis The Season (Junior League Event) and walk up to Santa to have a baby do death grip on my hand and become very timid of seeing this guy in a big red suit. Santa also was not very perky this year either. Apparently the economy is bad in the North Pole as well and Santa was on a coffee break, with his hat off for a little bit before we could go up to see him. We did manage to get a couple of shots that worked, of course the smile came when he was looking at me and I was trying to make him laugh, standing nowhere near the lens.
Andrea sponsored water Daddy’s Night at water aerobics and we had Kim from school watch Thane while Jay put on his swim trunks and got into the pool with a bunch of pregnant ladies. It was good for him to see what I have been raving about for so long. He also gave me a bit of a competitive streak and I was picking up the pace quite a bit to match (slash beat!) him. After it was all said and done, he thought it was more of a workout than he anticipated. Pics stink but you can see us and Becky b blurry in them.
Thanksgiving was spent with James and Diane and her family and was very wonderfully laid back. I could not ask for more. Thane had a ball and sampled everything for dinner at his very own TV tray table.
Last weekend, Jake and Adam came down for an all-sports weekend. Saturday night we all went to the Preds game and Sunday the boys went to see U of L play Western Kentucky. We all started the day off right on Sunday with breakfast at Pancake Pantry. As you can see from Thane’s face, he was very into the Swedish pancakes with Lingonberry jam. Yummy!
Thane also has new shoes, which was quite an experience. We bought a pair after much looking, and returned them a few days later. Based on a suggestion from a parent at school, we went to Lonnie Young’s children shoes in Nashville and bought him a very cute, very expensive pair of Geox shoes (yes, the kind giagia has bought for Daddy in the past). Now daddy and Thane match. They are very cute and he loves them.
The alarm is going off so this is all I have time to post now. I am heading to the hospital for a 9 am C-Section. Will post later today.
