Our First Trick or Treat
Saturday, November 1st, 2008This is the first year Thane has been “old enough” (and I use that term loosely) to go trick or treating. When we pulled in the driveway, he immediately wanted to cross the street and the island and the street to see the mock cemetery that decorated one of our neighbor’s home. As soon as he got there though, the sounds and movements were a little too scary and he clung to mommy’s leg while watching the scene.
We then found daddy who found the camera to watch us playing with the rope swing in our island. It seemed a little Blair Witch and we also caught some of those halo effects, which some believe are ghosts, in a few of those. Very Halloweeny.
We then got ready for the big night. Thane loves his monkey costume! He was very proud to stick out that big belly.
We met up with the neighborhood kids and headed out while they stayed back to eat dinner and wait till it got dark. We did not have that luxury since bedtime was approaching. We walked around the block and went to the doors of people we knew or people that were outside. Thane did a very good job knocking on the doors and saying “Th—ck or” or something along those lines. He also was very intent on picking his candy, although seemed to take 2 or 3 when I would say only 1! We did not steer him to any candy one way or the other and he decided he liked twizzlers and lollipops best, but we managed to somehow get a pack of pop rocks! How cool is that?!?!
When we got back, Thane inspected his loot and was allowed one dum dum. We then sat down for dinner which was interrupted several times by trick or treaters (although I think we missed the bulk when we were out). Thane carried the bowl to the door and let them take their treats, which I thought was way fun!
