Fantasy Football = Torn ACL?

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Our fantasy football weekend could have gotten off to a better start. When we got home Friday after doing some last minute grocery shopping, we found Jake limping. He would not use his right hind leg at all. It was too late to go to the vet and we were certain he would just walk it off.

Terry and his brother, Floyd, arrived and helped us set up for the party. Early the next morning (aka 7 am), I headed to the vet to drop Jake off while the boys finished setting up. A few hours later we got the not so fun news that Jake had a torn ACL and the only repair was surgery and extreme bed rest until then. (I told Jay he better win at poker for the $1k vet bill this is going to cost us). The doc gave us some tranqs and strict orders to keep puppy away from the party.

The party started and people started arriving. Thane was entranced with all the people and the attention. He looked very cute in his little Steelers outfit. This was very different from the 3 month old we had at the last party!

We started the draft while Thane took a nap…a 2 hour nap! Holy cow! (I have to say it did make things a tad easier) He did wake up in enough time to help Trisha put a couple of names on the board, including the very last one.

After the draft was over, we cleaned up a bit and got ready for Poker. I put the kiddo to sleep after big kisses to everyone (him not me). I was quite impressed with my stay in poker this time, not so shabby but nowhere in the money. Jay was one away from the money.

We ended the night with a Guitar Hero competition. Aaron won the money, Robb impressed everyone with his newbie skills, and John won the award for craziest dance moves. Next year I want to see him do Dance, Dance Revolution!
