Good thing someone sweeps
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008I was loading the dishwasher and Jay was cleaning pots from dinner. Thane was running around the house when he saw the dogs’ dishes…one empty (Jake’s), one half full (Bailey’s). He leaned over to play with them and Jay started to tell him to stop. Then he saw what he was doing. He would lift several pieces of kibble from half full bowl to empty bowl, pick up, move, drop, pick up, move drop.
We watched for a few minutes and just as Jay opened his mouth to say, wow, he has a great deal of patience and concentration, Thane picked up the half full bowl and emptied it on the floor. Dog kibble everywhere.
After a few attempts to get him to put them back in the bowl or at least the dogs to eat them, Jay got the broom out of the garage and swept them up. At which point, Thane picked up the full again bowl and turned it upside down. Before Jay and I had a chance to stop laughing, he proceeded to pick up the broom and “sweep” up the evidence.
He has also started helping me unload the dishwasher, one fork, spoon, and sippy cup at a time.
Not bad. I knew having kids had its benefits.
Oh, and here are some pics from his first day at school, too. Check out the faux-hawk.
