Thane had his first kiss at school on Thursday. Thane has always been affectionate and has recently taken to kissing books as well as mommy and daddy and his teachers. But this was a different. Apparently Thane has developed a liking for younger women. Eliza, 5 months old, was sitting in her boppy on the floor at school. Thane saw her, crawled over to her, and planted a kiss right on her lips. Her reaction? She cried. This was a day after he was caught lying next to her on the floor, holding her hand. We knew he would be a heartbreaker!
When we heard this story from Michelle at school that day, we also noticed that Cooper was standing very well in some strong soled shoes. Gia had been telling us to buy some, it would help him walk, but all the latest greatest parenting books out there said to keep him barefoot to get his bearings. We were impressed with Cooper’s abilities so we went to Stride Rite at the mall and bought him a new pair of shoes.

They were a bit clunky at first but he has gotten the hang of them completely and I do think he is more steady with them on than off. As an added bonus, when we go out, he can now stand in the store without worry of germs. Yesterday, we walked from daddy’s desk at the office to the car (ok, to the grass outside) holding mommy and daddy’s hands. It was the longest walk we have ever taken.
Today we had a very busy day. We woke up early and headed to gymnastics class. He was very in to the parachute today. He does not like hanging on the bars as much but liked the ones where he can keep his feet on the ground.

From the Y, we headed to the Frist Center for the last few days of the Monet to Dali exhibit. I have been wanting to see this for some time and we decided we were going to go this weekend. We had a wonderful time. Thane especially enjoyed the ArtQuest section and made mommy a water color for mother’s day! He seemed to have more fun crawling around the chairs than creating fine art though!

And for the biggest accomplishment…Thane has started signing back to us. He consistently made the sign for bottle today. He was very excited when he signed for it and we gave it to him. So pleased with himself he kept signing the whole time he was eating the first time! He gave it again each time he wanted to eat, including before bed when I was not sure if he was hungry or not. We are going to be introducing more signs now that he is responding. This is very exciting!
