Aria’s Birthday
Saturday, April 12th, 2008We had a busy weekend last week. First, we started taking gymnastics classes at the YMCA a couple of weeks ago, and we had class at 9 am. The entire gym is covered with mats and an entire obstacle course. Thane is very adventurous on most everything there, including the bars. He is not a fan of the slide, he gets scared and tries to climb back up so we stay away from it. He loves the parachute (and today he crawled under it for the first time). He even is able to climb the ladder. He has so much fun playing and seeing the other kids. It does tire him out though.
After class, we headed over to Julie’s to celebrate Aria’s 1st birthday. Julie did a great job and invited only people with kids Aria’s age so there were 4 babies, from 10 months (Thane) to 13 months. Oh, yeah, and all boys, Aria has a lot of boyfriends! Aria was also the first kid I saw to really enjoy the smash cake. She started off pretty dainty but went in for the attack with very little prompting. Thane tried get in to the act too. He’ll have to wait for his first birthday to get purple poop!
This weekend was much calmer. Jay passed his final MCITP exam yesterday—yay Jay! This is the last test in that series that had him in class this winter, so we are happy to have that out of the way. Thane cut his first tooth this week and so he has been a little fussy and had a bit of a fever. We have tried giving him some Motrin and Orajel to help with the pain. Today was a pretty low key day. We went to gymnastics class, came home, and then all took naps.
When Jay read to him tonight, I was able to snap a shot of Thane’s new thing. The last book we read to him every night (we read 3) is the same, “Lullaby Little One.” It is his favorite. He loves the little girl in the story, so much so that he now gives her a kiss on every page. He also likes turning the pages. Very cute.
