Super Bowl Sunday

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Sunday rolled around and although I finished my part of the upgrade at 9 am, Jay was still working and kick off was approaching. We generally head to John’s for Super Bowl Sunday but with the upgrade activities decided it was better to stay close to home and decided to do a low key party with James & Diane.

During one of his downtimes, he put together one of Thane’s new toys, a lion walker. Thane was intrigued with it from the moment he saw it. We let him sit and play with it for a little bit at first.

Then we let him take a little ride, which he REALLY enjoyed.

The lion’s nose will make sound whenever you hit it…it did not take long for him to figure that one out. Now the minute he gets on he hits the nose…again and again and again. He also likes the view he gets from being up there. Yesterday he found a drawer reached for it (it was a little too far away so I brought him over to it) and, while sitting on the lion, opened the drawer, closed the drawer, opened the drawer….you get the point…for FIVE minutes before mommy took him away.

The walking part of it is still a little too fast for him, but he will get there eventually.

Jay finally finished just before 4. And then it was off to James & Diane’s. He had been fussy all day, so I was thrilled when we got there and he was easily calmed in Aunt Diane’s arms. She got to hold him the whole evening.

He had a few firsts Sunday night…his first real cracker…

AND HIS FIRST CRAWL!!!!

Thane did the army crawl for about 3 crawls and we were all there to see it! Uncle James said it does not count until he goes his body length but I disagree! It was so awesome to see it!

Plus, when we went upstairs, he did it more and more…

Second Date?

Monday, February 4th, 2008

On Friday, Jay and I started another round of dry runs. In prep, we stayed home Friday day and kept the kiddo with us.

Julie and I had made plans for lunch earlier in the week…long overdue lunch plans. We brought Thane and her precious little girl, Aria (10 months old) with us. This was their second lunch date. Our waiter stunk, so Julie and I got plenty of time to talk. The babies were perfect, although both had mastered the art of dropping things from their high chair. For most of the lunch, we had them sitting across from each other. Aria was into watching Thane. He was more into watching the lights (isn’t that always the way it with boys???) They did strike up quite the conversation…I could not make it all out but I think it went something like this:

Aria: Hey, does your mom pick up your toys when you drop them?
Thane: Yeah, wanna see? (plunk)
Aria: Cool, let me try (plunk)
Thane: Hey, I got my toy back, let’s see if she will pick it up again (plunk)
Aria: OOOH, me too, me too. (plunk)

Thane got to show off eating Cheerios so Aria tried some too. She was very adept at picking them up with her fingers and seemed to really like them.

At the end of lunch, we sat them next to each other and got some cute shots and interactions.
