Friday was spent visiting family and showing off the baby. We knew he was a little off his game but I don’t think anyone else noticed. For a “cranky” version of himself, he was still pretty calm and after traveling 1000+ miles, I don’t think anyone faulted him.

Saturday, Jay got to show off his game to Yanick, who was very eager to get Jay to the backyard to play some street hockey. I cannot believe how far Yanick has come since the last time we were in Ottawa and Julie was duct taping his pads to his little legs!

Dimitri and Yanick really took to their new cousin. The distance is so far, I was wondering how little Dimitri would be around us, perhaps a little shy. It is obvious when people talk about you throughout the year as Steve and Julie obviously do. We (and baby Thane) were welcomed as if we lived down the street, not in a different country! Yanick and Dimitri were quite taken with him, giving him lots of attention and kisses throughout the weekend.

Saturday night, Steve and Julie hosted a cook out at their house. It made me miss being so close to family.

We are back from Canada, eh?

It was a wonderful trip, starting with the first flight to Atlanta! Thanks to everyone for their advice on travelling with infants (especially Emily & Julie)…Thane was a trooper and mommy and daddy and the rest of the people on Flight 4349 made out in one non-frazzled piece. We fed him for both take off and landing and never heard a peep. Jay and I even met a nice couple from Nashville on the flight with 2 kids that we switched seats with. We exchanged babysitters, pediatrician info, and phone numbers. OK…OK…”exchanged” implies I gave her something in return when, in fact, she just gave me all of hers…c’est la vie!

Two flights later, we arrived in the great white north and Thane became international. When the border control checked us in, she got a big kick out of the passport and I got very excited about his very first stamp in it!

Canada!

Steve, Dimitri, and Yanick picked us up at the airport and we headed to the house. A short while later, after we settled a somewhat fussy baby down a bit, we headed to Aunt Sue’s to introduce Thane to Pappou and Aunt Sue…(to be continued…)

HA! After posting this I realized that I have posted 3 almost identical pics of me with the baby…nice. Not vain at all.

So, we got complaints on the new site and apparently I could not do as much with the Apple stuff as I could with WordPress. So…back to wordpress we go. We will still use some apple features, so you might have to click to a few places (for video at least), but I will try to make it as easy as possible. I hope to have Canada pics up in the next day or so.

In the meantime, here is a photo of Jake that Jessica (his puppy sitter) took last summer when we were in India. Apparently he loved looking out the window to watch all the wildlife pass by the creek.
