Father knows best…

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Jay sent out this email to our coworkers, I will put an update in later to fill in all the pieces:

Steph just had a very encouraging appointment with her OB. Her fluid levels are back to well within the normal range and the affects of pre-term labor have reversed almost completely back to normal levels. She will still be on modified bed rest for the time being, but there is now a good chance that she will be able to go to term and enjoy a happy, healthy pregnancy.

Thanks,
Jay

The good, the bad, and the ugly

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

I woke up this morning with an awful rash on my belly and on my wrists. It almost looks like a sunburn, but since I have been away from sun more than Dracula this week, that cannot be it! I called the doctor thinking it was a reaction to the meds. That seemed odd though, since I have been on them for over a week with no reaction. The nurse told me it sounded like “The Pregnancy Rash” aka PUPPPS (leave the extra P in there for Pain in the Butt) and advised me to take Benadryl and use hydrocortisone creme until it gets better. Oh, yeah, and that won’t happen until I give birth. Wonderful.

I came downstairs (before talking to the nurse) and told Jay I felt like my BP had dropped. He took my BP and it registered as 108/65. Lower than normal on the systolic but still in the normal range. He left for work. About 15 minutes later, I pulled a card. I don’t know how many I have out there, so I should probably use them sparingly. HOWEVER, I mustered the most pathetic voice I could, told him how feeble I felt, and asked him if he could work from home today. So, being the doting hubby he is, he turned around and came home. Not good that on day 3 of being at home I need him here, but better safe than sorry and he has been very good to me. I got a delicious tilapia and somen noodle lunch and have not had to get up for a thing. No headaches today either.

While Jay and I were sitting here, I realized something else. Inhale In, Exhale out. Wow. I can breathe again! Woo hoo! I then realized, hey, I bet butterbean dropped. Sure enough, I stood up and asked Jay if I looked different. He said it looked like I was carrying lower. I am not 100% certain, but all evidence points to the baby having dropped! Wowser! Not surprising though. Every ultrasound I have had over the last 2-3 weeks has shown the baby head down, so I knew this was coming. It does not mean I am going into labor, just a normal course of action. Generally happens around 35 weeks though. (further evidence that I am further along than thought!)

And, for the final bit of AWESOME news….We booked Lisa Marie and Gail’s visit!!! I am so excited to have them here and they are coming for 6 days when the baby is born…an extended 4th of July weekend! I love it! Thanks, girls!

Headaches

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Apparently the headaches I have been having are a result of bedrest. Because I have not been moving, blood is not flowing as it should. At least I am following doctor’s orders!
