Becky and I had a girls weekend last week. Becky suggested a few weeks ago that we head to Memphis, treat ourselves to a night at the plush Peabody Hotel, and then shop for the baby at the Pottery Barn Outlet. The trip down was a blast, listening to the “golden oldies” such as ” Baby Got Back” and “Funk Cold Medina.” Becky was craving Chicken and Rice at Cracker Barrel (no, I am not kidding), so just outside of Memphis we stopped and she got her C&R and I had a too sweet Raspberry Lemonade.

We shopped at Pottery Barn and were lucky to get a 30% discount on top of the savings on all the kids stuff. No furniture or the bookcase I had been hoping for, but I spent about $300 on everything from lamps to drapes to frames. They had some great stuff, if you just dug around enough and Becky was a great help finding things for Thane.

Weary, we headed back to the hotel and watched the duck parade. At 11 am every morning, the ducks start their jobs in the fountain and leave again at 5 pm, a tradition started by some drunk blokes in the 1930s. It was quite the fanfare.

Dinner was less than fabulous, at a Thai restaurant that got rave reviews. Oh well. Back to the hotel we headed where Becky treated us to dessert and then we played a few hands of gin. Did I mention that I clobbered her?

We headed back the next day after a delicious brunch (yummmm…Eggs Benedict) and back to the outlet for a last round of shopping before heading back to Nashvegas.

Thane now has a bunch of accessories with nowhere to put them on. Looks like we need to do some more shopping!

So these are old, from last season, as you can tell by the jersey from his old team, but I just had to share. He has definitely come a long way since this unsure skater!

Yesterday, I hit 21 weeks, so we are officially on the downward slope. This week I have been searching out pediatricians and child care. If anyone has suggestions (good or bad) in either department, please send them on to me!

Last night when we were lying in bed and Jay was reading “Is your Mama a Llama?” to Thane, he felt Thane move. It was so cool. I was really relaxed and all of a sudden the somersaults Thane had been doing turned into solid kicks. When Jay had his hand on my belly while he was reading Thane gave a solid kick and Jay jumped. I saw the reaction on his face and knew he had felt it! I asked and sure enough…HE DID! Thane was definitely reacting to his daddy reading to him, which has become a nightly event.

Things are really progressing and when I was once so anxious to feel pregnant before, things are now moving pretty quickly. I am finally starting to really show (why was I so looking forward to that one???) and can feel Thane throughout the day. Wow.
