Hockey Star Hansen
Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006In celebration of Jay’s last game, allow me to take a break from baby news to tell you about Mr. Hockey himself.
What a year it has been….Jay’s hockey career started just 9 months ago in Steve & Julie’s backyard ice rink. Coach Yanick had many pointers to give the rookie, who was using a hockey stick too short for his wife. Fast forward to today, passing beginner’s skating lessons, beginner’s hockey lessons, and lots of public skate sessions, and you will find the next Wayne Gretzky, defenseman for the Beginner’s Luck Hockey Team at Centennial!
OK…maybe he is no Gretzky yet, but man, he’s got heart! He is awesome…Steve, you would barely recognize this skating fool! He is skating forwards and backwards like a pro, with hockey stops and cross-overs to boot!
The Beginner’s Luck team is a C-League team started by a group from a hockey class Jay did not take. But Tricia did, and so Jay became a sub. John is goalie, Trisha is a wing. Their record has been stellar…a perfect season if you will (ok, I won’t mention that it is exact opposite of the 1972 Dolphins perfect season). They have definitely gone at it with gusto and had a blast in the meantime.
Below are some early shots, Jay’s form is much improved since this early game. We learned from scuba loud colors work well…Jay is #1 but you can more tell from the Yellow Stick and Red/White/Blue gloves.
Go Beginner’s Luck!
