I received this wonderful email this morning from Grace at the GAWT Shelter that rescued Leela for us!

Dear Stephanie:

Thanks so much for the donation you will be sending to the UK. We really appreciate it!!

I have GREAT News:

Leela was adopted yesterday! She has gone to a nearby village called Quepem. She will be living with two families who have two houses on the same plot (around 10,000 sq. mtrs.) — that means she will have a great place with plenty of room to run around. The man that adopted her is a physician and has two children. He and his brother live on this large track of land. They have a corn field and grow other vegetables.

Leela had gained quite a bit of weight and she was very serious about her guard dog duties. Dr. Kamat liked her bark and she really is looking good.

We took a photo right before she left but we have not developed the film — it is the old types of cameras (not digital) and we will have to wait until we finish the roll. Then, I will send you the picture of her on the day she left.

You should be congratulated for acting on her behalf when you saw her in trouble. I believe she will have a great life in this place. She is fully recovered from surgery, vaccinated, and ready to guard!!

It has been a pleasure to keep in touch with you.

Unfortunately, due to my dad’s health, we are going straight to Argentina from here. I may travel to the US in October but let’s see — that’s a busy time around here.

Keep in touch. We will be sending you our news updates periodically.

Regards,

Grace

I will post the photo when I receive it. I am so happy she has found her forever home! See, she was a special puppy!
